AC/DC - Rock N Roll Train

I didn’t think AC/DC was going to be able to pull off another standard 3-chord hard rock hit when this came out last year. But I was pleasantly surprised. This is just all out rock at its simplest and best. Anyone who doesn’t like AC/DC even just a little bit is living their life the wrong way.

One can actively or passively enjoy many things. There is a fundamental difference between those who listen to Lady Gaga as background music or focus and analyze Frank Zappa with a pair of headphones. Many read Dan Brown on the subway, others read classic literature in an armchair. There’s nothing inherently wrong with passive consumption or mainstream commodities, but some people strive to take a closer look at these commodities as a form of expression.

There’s nothing wrong with drinking Coors Light from a silo cup. I’m willing to bet most of those who have the disposable income to enjoy craft brews went to college and may have chugged a few silo cups of Bud—and enjoyed it. I’m using this blog to track my tasting notes and thoughts on beer.

311 @ the Aragon last night. Fun! But …

But 311 puts on the same exact show over and over again, down to the very stage “banter” between songs. And their fans mosh to their songs, which is the stupidest thing since unsliced bread.

I am a fan of Chad Sexton and Tim Mahoney though. Nice guys.

Fair enough. It was the exact same (abbreviated) show we saw at Charter One in August … down the carefully orchestrated “soul clap” and (my personal favorite part) entire 311 drum line … but I love it every time.

Mosh? No. Jumping and weird hand gestures? Yep.

Looking for info. about why Chicago concerts have to be over by 10 PM on week nights (thought the venue was going to revolt last night and our crew was highly annoyed) … help?

That’s specific to the Aragon I believe. I haven’t been to a show yet that were cut off at 10. Even the concerts at Wrigley (The Police, Elton John/Billy Joel, etc.) went until 11 or so. My guess is that it was just past Nick Hexum’s bedtime.

This year I have the following lined up for Christmas spirit activities:

- A donation to the Greater Chicago Food Depository
- One of those “take a tag from the tree and replace it with a gift for a child of X age”. I don’t know what you call it, but I’m supposed to get the kid a basketball. It’s gonna be baller. (PUN INTENDED WHOAOAOOA!)
- My dad somehow got a hold of 3 tickets to the Bears/Vikings game at Soldier Field. He had them sent out to me but since I loathe the Bears, I’m going to give them to someone at work. I don’t know who, but I’m thinking it might be like a raffle situation and then we donate the money to a good cause.
- At least one morning or afternoon at a local soup kitchen serving and hanging out with less fortunate people.
- I kinda wanna just spend a day giving people hugs too. Like all day. On the same street corner downtown. With a “FREE CHRISTMAS HUGS” shirt on. (Christmas hugs. Not holiday hugs. Suck on that Jesus haters.)

Anyone wanna join me for the FREE CHRISTMAS HUGS day or to a soup kitchen???
