January 2009
It took me around 5 minutes today to remember how old I was… I don’t know if I’m just losing it or in denial.

Good excerpt But do you know anyone, Democrat or Republican, dancing in the street over this? You don’t. Because most everyone knows it isn’t a good bill, and knows that its failure to receive a single Republican vote, not one, suggests the old battle lines are hardening. Back to the Crips versus the Bloods. Not very inspiring. The president will enjoy short-term gain. In the great...

heidelweiss: sarahchristine: not a fan. Please don’t do this to Pa.  We might have to stock the basement with Coca Cola Classic so he’ll never know.  This crushes me, but I can’t imagine how upset he’ll be if he finds out.  (Side note:  I think my grandfather has had 1-2 cans of Coca Cola every single day for my entire life.  When the “new” coke formula...

Rush Limbaugh is a moron.
On rare occasions, he’ll make unbelievably logical and smart comments.  However, they’re severely discounted when surrounded by outlandish statements and uber-Republican hoo-hah. One another note, I think the battle of Rush vs. Obama will be very entertaining to watch in the coming months.  Rush, though an asshole, may be able to push Obama so far up the wall that Obama will...

bowlsby: A severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer. An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience. Every book is a children’s book if the kid can read! Note.
On days like today where a lot of numbers are involved, it’s pretty clear that I’m partly dyslexic.  But the weird part is that I got a 740 on the math portion of my SATs.  So I don’t whether to believe I’m dyslexic and guessed correctly a bunch of times or that my basic math capabilities are so off that my dyslexia fixes them by accident.

KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL
I’m sure some of you have read it before, but it’s a good story and makes it hard to not like this guy at least a little bit. In an Iowa supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register 4.  Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the call.  As he ...

I just re-watched Rocky Balboa
It came from Netflix today and I was absolutely thrilled.  I still stand by my assertion that it is a FANTASTIC movie.  Yeah, it’s a little cheesy at some points, but that is completely pushed aside by the fact that it gave an unbelievable lesson: Don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of what makes you happy.  And if you still have something to give, give it until there’s...
